MEMBERSHIP OF THE HARPENDEN CHILD CONTACT CENTRE:

The Harpenden Child Contact Centre (HCCC) is a Charity run by a Management Committee. The Management Committee includes the Trustees of the Charity. The Committee Members/Trustees are required to be elected from a wider ‘membership’ at a general meeting in accordance with the HCCC Constitution.

Membership is open to anyone aged 18 or over who expresses an interest in the work of the HCCC and who makes a minimum annual donation (subscription) to the HCCC.

The regular donations from the members are a valuable on-going source of funding to help cover the running costs of the HCCC operation, eg: Purchase/replacement of toys, Hall hire, Insurance, Fees, Training, Admin costs etc. Other grants and donations will be obtained but these are often ‘one-off’ gifts that cannot necessarily be assumed to be repeated. These regular members’ donations can be still more valuable when gift aided so that the HCCC can reclaim tax at no additional cost to the member.

Members are asked to give a minimum of £10 per year to HCCC, and to gift aid it if they are a tax payer. We strongly urge members to consider giving more than the minimum if they are able.

As a consequence of membership, the member will be informed from time to time with news of HCCC activities and achievements, and will be invited to HCCC events. They will be invited to the Annual General Meeting of the HCCC (or any other General Meeting), and will be able to raise issues for discussion and vote at those meetings and to stand as a candidate for Committee/Trustee membership or other roles within the organisation.

Membership is for individuals. If a husband and wife wish to join, they should join as two members (minimum donation of £20 requested) but this can be done together on one application form and we shall send information to them as a couple unless they request separate information.

We are now seeking applications for annual membership.

Terms of membership:

1. Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December each year.
2. Membership is open to all individuals aged 18 or over.
3. The Trustees on behalf of the general membership reserve the right to terminate the membership of any member or reject any membership application or renewal if they believe it is not in the interests of the HCCC, and to return any donation paid in respect of the membership application or renewal to the applicant.
4. Donations are non-returnable in the event of termination of membership, except as in 3 above.
5. The HCCC will keep records of members’ names and addresses, contact details and their payments for the control of the membership list, for membership contact, for membership renewals and for accounting and gift aid tax reclaim purposes only. These records will not be used for any other purpose or disclosed outside of the HCCC. Members may at any time make a request to the Trustees to inspect the records kept about themselves.
